about Taiya-Lynn

I was born and raised in Canada where I studied Health Sciences and Psychology before departing to The Netherlands on what was supposed to be a 6-month long trip. I fell in love with the country and the various communities that exist within it. In my time in the Netherlands I have expanded my educational horizons, studying global health at the VU, and completing my MSc in Clinical Psychology at Leiden University.

Over the years I have worked with a wide variety of mental health concerns including but not limited to; addictions counselling, chronic illness and terminal diagnosis, dual diagnosis, and traditional and non-traditional relationship counselling.

Psychology is not all I do; in my free time, I enjoy spending time in nature, doing yoga, reading, and gardening – not to mention traveling. I love going to new places, with no plans, and experiencing the culture, society and landscape with as few preconceived notions as possible.

I aim to provide a non-judgmental, sex positive, inclusive therapeutic environment aimed at helping individuals navigate and manage difficult aspects of their life regardless of their sexuality, gender, and relationship configuration. I am an all-round psychologist who utilizes a client-centered approach when working with individuals, adolescents, partners, and families.

what I love about being a psychologist

I became a therapist because I believe we all have the potential to grow into better, more satisfied versions of ourselves. My goal is to help you identify how you want to live and the blocks that are preventing you from getting there.

“There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”  Shakespeare (Hamlet)

In my youth, I was very active in the art scene, something I am just now getting back in touch with. Activism is also an important part of my life and I am actively involved in many causes both internationally and in The Netherlands.
